Visited Chocoberry London on a Saturday evening with my wife and son, and unfortunately, it did not live up to the hype.
The restaurant was only about half full when we arrived, yet service was noticeably slow and unorganized. We waited around 10–15 minutes just to place our order, and another 15–20 minutes for food to start arriving. Even then, the dishes came out at different times, my wife received her meal first, while I had to remind the server about mine. We also had to follow up again for my son’s dessert. Overall, the service felt inattentive and inconsistent.
As for the food, it was a mixed experience but largely underwhelming. The chicken burger and mini sliders were quite bland and lacked flavour, the bread was honestly the standout component. The fries were decent, and the matcha strawberry drink and chocolate-dipped strawberries were enjoyable. However, considering the strong social media hype and reviews, the overall food quality didn’t match expectations.
The interior looks nice and the location is convenient, though parking can be a bit challenging in the area. Pricing also feels high relative to portion size and quality, especially when compared to other options nearby on 17th Avenue or in Kensington.
I might give it one more try for desserts, but based on this visit, there are better value options in the area. Should note that one nice thing I did appreciate is they did provide a 20% coupon for our next visit due the lack of speed when it came to service.
Had an amazing breakfast experience at Chocoberry. Their brunch menu is excellent with great variety and quality. I ordered the Steak & Eggs and my wife had the Big Bang breakfast — both dishes were absolutely delicious.
The steak was cooked exactly to my preferred style, perfectly done and full of flavor. You can tell they take the right amount of time to prepare the food properly, especially for steak, and the timing of the order was just right. Everything was served fresh and in a timely manner.
Overall, fantastic food, great service, and a very enjoyable breakfast atmosphere. Highly recommended!
I recently visited Chocoberry in Calgary and had a really enjoyable experience overall. The place has a great vibe—clean, cozy, and perfect for satisfying a sweet craving. The presentation of the desserts is impressive, and everything looks as good as it tastes.
I tried a few items, and the quality was definitely there. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the flavors are rich without being overwhelming. The menu has a nice variety, so there’s something for everyone, whether you’re into chocolate, waffles, or fruit-based desserts.
The only downside is that it’s a bit on the expensive side for the portion sizes. That said, the quality and overall experience still make it worth a visit once in a while.
Overall, a great spot if you’re looking to treat yourself to something sweet in Calgary
EDIT 5 stars from 4 stars:
we returned to have brunch and dessert- we ordered the lotus biscoff milk cake which was delicious!
The service was exceptional! Staff repeatedly came to check up on us and the food arrived swiftly. They have clearly hired more staff and are training them very well.
We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and talking to the manager who really took on board our criticism and are planning to make changes (some items were salty)
They also added a drinks menu with a wider variety of drinks (photo attached) ☕️
Again, a fantastic experience with lovely food and atmosphere, cannot wait to return! 😋
We ordered the classic English breakfast with added half avocado, steak & eggs, Nutella brownie French toast, Spanish latte and drip coffee.
Pros:
- Staff were very friendly and inviting
- lovely variety of brunch and dessert options on the menu
- most of the food was good, steak was cooked to perfection!
- coffee was superb!
- Fantastic portion sizes, definitely get your moneys worth!
- atmosphere and decor was beautiful, clean and stylish
- Fully hand slaughtered halal (suppliers are Taaj halal meat)
Neutral:
- Staff forgetting items we requested after repeatedly asking them a few times. However, this is understandable as they were a staff member short and a sudden influx of customers arrived as well as they just opened so they’re probably figuring out how to manage customers!
Cons:
- no drinks menu and limited with their options (no caramel latte ☹️)
- some items were slightly salty for my taste (hash browns were seasoned too much as the bacon and sausages are naturally salty)
- bacon was overcooked (because the bacon is made from beef, it is better to have it soft rather than ‘crispy’ as it becomes chewy when overcooked)
Having been to the original chocoberry in the UK, can definitely say this is a great addition to the franchise!
Overall, we enjoyed our experience and will definitely be returning to try other items on the menu!
Also, we are excited for the full launch at the end of April which will include dinner options 😋(Hoping for chicken steak, classic British fish and chips and spicy chicken noodles on the Menu 👀)
Loved this place! Really excited to have a decent halal brunch place in Calgary. The staff is super friendly, whatever we ordered tasted great. For me, the Tiramisu stood out the most! Best tiramisu ive tasted in Calgary.
Their coffee was really good too. Definitely will be back!
