Food was excellent. It tasted like I was back in Southern Thailand. We went on a Friday, they only had the tasting menu. You pick one appetizer, one curry, one entree, two sides, and one dessert from the menu for the table. You also get two dumpling dishes for the table. The food was served family style and portioned based on the number of people. We've been to Southern Thailand many times and loved spicy food. So, we chose dishes that reminded us of our trips. It definitely didn't disappoint. The flavor profiles were spot on. For us, the spice level was more like a 7 of 10. It was hot but still enjoyable. A lot of places we ate in Southern Thailand, the spicy dishes tend to be a 10 or 11 out of 10. I would come back. However, we would come back Sunday-Thursday. The amount of food in the tasting menu was too much for us and we were staying in a hotel, not ideal for a doggy bag.
I really enjoyed the appetizers. They were definitely the highlight of our meal. The curry was delicious and well seasoned, and the salad was refreshing while still being very flavorful.
The only downside was our entrée. We ordered the half chicken, and while it tasted good, it was difficult to eat because it was heavily coated in curry, which stained your hands with even the slightest touch. I wish it had been served a little differently, although I understand that might take away from the authenticity of the Thai experience.
Our server was amazing. She was very knowledgeable about the menu, guided us through the different dishes, and answered all of our questions.
This was our first time trying Thai food, so we didn’t know exactly what to expect. One thing to note is that many of the dishes are quite spicy, so keep that in mind if you’re sensitive to heat. I enjoy spicy food, so that was right up my alley.
Everything that my family and I experienced at Kalaya was phenomenal. Service was quick and attentive. The Zero Proof Lychee Negroni was flavorful, with a light, sweet profile. The crab stir-fry was full of tasty crab and rich in flavor. The chef was present that day and came out to greet all her guests. What an incredible experience. 10 out of 10 would recommend.
As a Thai visitor from SF, I was impressed by how authentic the food tasted. I sat at the bar, and Carissa was incredibly friendly and provided excellent service throughout my visit. The food was outstanding, and every dish was full of authentic flavors. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for upscale Thai cuisine done right.
Chose Kalaya to celebrate my birthday eve and it delivered on every single level. The food is bold, authentic, and bursting with flavor — and the vegetarian options are genuinely outstanding, not just an afterthought.
The ambience is stunning. Warm, intimate, electric — the kind of place that makes you want to stay forever. The staff were attentive and kind, and the owner’s personal warmth and passion for what they do truly sets this place apart.
This isn’t just a restaurant. It’s an experience. I absolutely cannot wait to come back
