La Merna

Elite spot. First - shout out to Austin for incredible service. Ambiance was fantastic, especially the lighting and music. Focaccia w/ stracciatella is delicious. That cheese is something. The nudi balls were really good as well - gooey and herbal, paired with a fantastic vodka sauce. The Caesar salad is very solid (could use a splash of acid). The fazzoletti pasta was really tasty too, I like that they let it crisp in the bake. Unfortunately for the pasta, the pizza stole the show. That thin crust and charred pepperonis are perfect. Sweet Dee is a great, great pizza. Can eat it all day. The Olive Oil cake is delicious and decadent and not what you expect. The pistachio cherry gelato is revelatory. Service was impeccable. The chefs come out to chat and explain. Can’t wait to come back.

Went to their soft opening. We were a bit late and they had ran out of most things and we couldn’t try their Italian beef but the other we got was really good. Coffee and cigarettes coastal was amazing. Would def come back to try the other pizzas.

What a GEM! We are SO excited to have La Merna in this area of DuPont. A great neighborhood spot! Cocktails were priced so well and tasted amazing. We tried the focaccia, 2 different pizzas, and the Caesar salad. Everything was amazing! The pizza reminded us of St. Louis style. Staff was great, so welcoming, we can’t wait to come back!

Can’t say enough good things about La Merna. This is about to be THE spot in DC. The vibes are cozy and fun. The food, drinks, and staff are all top tier. You need to experience for yourself. Pro tip: get the fennel salad with chicken milanese.
