Additional Details

The restaurant was hit and miss for me. I really enjoyed the halibut fishwhich, but I wish there were more lunch options on the menu. As far as appetizers go, the deviled eggs needed more flavor but the chips and dip were delicious. The seafood chowder was too thin for me and needed salt but the pork belly sandwhich was a hit. The wait was a bit long, but the host really made us feel welcome once we sat down. I also noticed extraordinary teamwork among the staff which seemed genuine and super refreshing. There just needs to be more consistency to ensure the entire dining experience is worth the price.
Matt's is situated with a direct view overlooking Pike Place & the water depending on where you sit. We tried the halibut fish sammie with herby potato salad and the loaded shrimp sandwich & a wonderful side salad with pepitas, both were fresh and tasty. Overall, it's a great spot for the atmosphere and view, just expect tourist pricing and a potential brief wait.

The food is always incredible, but the people are what make Matt’s in the Market so special. Every interaction with the staff is always warm, genuine, and welcoming. They have a way of making you feel like a regular, even on your first visit (then you become a regular). You can tell they truly love what they do, and it shows in every detail. Great food can bring you in, but exceptional hospitality is what keeps you coming back.

The restaurant was a bit hard to find even with Google Maps, hidden on the 2nd floor in the building. But once you find the stairway the sign is well placed to point you to the right place. I had the fish sandwich (the day of the fish was halibut) with an unexpected large salad as a side with generous portion of blue cheese. My friend said her seafood chowder was excellent, but the friend who ordered the rice bowl with the beef short ribs said it was so-so. The egg was hard boile but it would have made the rice dish more palatable if the egg was fried. The big windows in the restaurant offered nice views to the water. It's a pleasant place to dine.

Stumbled upon this place on a rare slow night. Was quick to be seated. Staff was very kind and thoughtful with any questions about the menu items. The salmon was cooked perfectly, but I thought the capers and olives were super overpowering to the dish, so it ended up not being my favorite. Vibes here are good, even though it’s located in a prime tourist area, would love to come back and give it another try.
