A Hidden Gem for Pastry Lovers and Coffee Connoisseurs
If you are searching for that elusive, perfect morning ritual, look no further. I recently visited this charming cafe, and I can say without a hint of exaggeration that it was one of the most delightful culinary experiences I’ve had in a long time. While many places try to master the art of the British scone and the perfect brew, few succeed with such grace and consistency as this establishment.
The Star of the Show: The Scones
Let’s talk about the scones. Often, scones can be disappointingly dry or overly crumbly, but here, they have achieved a level of textural perfection. Each scone is served warm, boasting a golden-brown, slightly crisp exterior that gives way to a light, airy, and buttery center. Whether you opt for the classic plain version or one of their seasonal fruit infusions, the balance of sweetness is impeccable. When paired with their rich clotted cream and tangy house-made jam, it’s nothing short of exquisite. You can tell they use high-quality butter and traditional techniques; they taste like they were baked by someone who truly respects the craft.
The Coffee Experience
To accompany such a treat, you need a coffee that can hold its own, and the baristas here certainly deliver. I ordered a latte, and the microfoam was silky smooth, adorned with beautiful latte art that showed real attention to detail. The beans are clearly roasted to perfection—there wasn't a trace of bitterness. Instead, the coffee offered a complex profile with subtle notes of chocolate and toasted nuts that complemented the buttery richness of the scones beautifully.
Final Verdict
The ambiance of the shop, combined with the heavenly aroma of fresh baking and roasting beans, creates an inviting atmosphere that makes you want to linger for hours. If you appreciate the finer things in life—like a warm, flaky scone and a masterfully crafted cup of coffee—this place is a mandatory visit. I’ll certainly be returning very soon!
What a hidden beauty😍..Exploring London with my husband always leads to the best finds ✨
We discovered Paul Rhodes Bakery and tried their Seeded Porridge Sourdough—and wow! 🥖 Dense, nutty, full of flavour, and so satisfying. You can really taste the quality and care in every bite.
As someone who loves baking bread, I truly admired this loaf such a beauty ❤️ Definitely a must try if you love artisanal bread! As someone who enjoys baking, one of the best breads we’ve had, even compared to many places outside London. Highly recommend!
Great pastries, they had a large (and tasty) selection of sweet and savoury pastries which is very good. The portion sizes were very generous, one slice here would be two at Gail’s…
Coffee was great too!
Lastly, the cake was gorgeous.
I travel an hour each way to visit this bakery every Sunday for Best Ever Chocolate Cake slice and Sourdough Bread. Other products are pretty good as well. Their Best Ever Chocolate Cake is a must must try!!
Also they cut the sourdough bread in slices which is of great help!
