Perseid is a stunning addition to Montrose inside the Hotel Saint Augustine! The space has a gorgeous, retro-modern bistro vibe with warm yellow walls and pink ceiling accents.
The food completely matches the beautiful atmosphere. The roasted duck breast over white beans was flawless—perfectly pink, tender, and rich. The signature burger with duck liver mousse was another standout. Don't skip the starters; the everything-seasoned smoked salmon dip and the smooth foie gras terrine with cherries were exceptional. Highly recommend for a fantastic dinner in Houston!
I don't even know where to begin with this review... from the food, drinks, ambiance, aesthetic and live music by Kim & Bill; everything is 5 STARS!!
Sarah, (our server) greeted us promptly and the way she was able to describe the wines we were not familiar with, just rolled off her tongue as if it was a second language she was fluent in. Once drink orders were in, we moved right into treating our tastebuds. From the apps to dessert, not a single plate disappointed. The bread and butter, topped with sea salt, I could just eat by itself. We opted to order the squash blossoms and smoked salmon dip to start. Honestly we could've ordered a second round of the apps and I would've been completely satisfied. I'll definitely be going back for more! Entrées were the perfect add on to where we began. Corn risotto with grilled shrimp and Caesar salad with salmon, both were shared and the perfect combination to split. Though we were stuffed, we couldn't miss out on dessert. Everything was too good to even consider passing up a grand finale. Pictures and descriptions absolutely do not do full justice so I highly recommend just seeing and tasting for yourself. Tucked in the middle of the St. Augustine hotel, this is truly a hidden gem in disguise.
came for brunch and wow the pancake here is gigantic and tasty! wasn’t the biggest fan of the citrus flavor on the pancakes but it ended up growing on me. so definitely give it a try. the scallion biscuits are good! buttery, soft, and flakey altogether. the potatoes are okay.
definitely give some of their drinks a try. they make a super good gibson. they make sure to ask the right questions to get your drink perfect.
good spot! will have to try their dinner menu sometime.
We visited Perseid for Valentine’s Day, and it was truly one of the most memorable dining experiences we’ve had in Houston.
Tucked inside Hotel Saint Augustine, Perseid feels like a hidden gem — intimate, refined, and quietly luxurious. It has that understated elegance that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something special. We were lucky enough to score a last-minute reservation on OpenTable, which felt meant to be because the entire evening was flawless.
The food was absolutely incredible. Every dish was deeply savory, beautifully plated, and thoughtfully composed. You can truly taste the technique and intention behind each course. It’s elevated French cuisine, but still warm and inviting rather than intimidating. Each bite felt balanced, rich, and memorable.
The atmosphere is sophisticatedly beautiful — soft lighting, elegant design, and a calm, romantic energy that made it perfect for Valentine’s Day. It felt intimate without being cramped, and upscale without feeling pretentious.
Perseid absolutely lives up to its Michelin star reputation. If you’re looking for a refined, special-occasion restaurant in Houston — especially one that feels like a hidden escape — this is it. We left already planning our next visit.
We had a lovely dinner here, being pleasantly surprised by everything, We had a lovely dinner here, pleasantly surprised by everything from the delicious food to the wonderful service and relaxed, elegant atmosphere. We shared a perfectly prepared Caesar salad topped with anchovies, followed by excellent sourdough bread from Slow Dough Bakery. For entrees, the pork shoulder over lentils with gremolata was brightened perfectly by tangy onion and lemon, while the hanger steak was cooked to perfection. Don’t miss the maple cake for dessert, which was exquisite and served with a unique rosemary-lemon vanilla ice cream. The dining room was quiet, giving us a secluded, relaxing experience. We will definitely be back!
