Le Chambard is a 5-star Relais & Châteaux hotel and spa located in an 18th-century property in the heart of the Alsatian vineyards in Kaysersberg-Vignoble. It is renowned as a gourmet stop on the Alsace wine trail and houses the acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurant, La Table d'Olivier Nasti. The hotel also offers a delightful Tea Time experience.
Customer feedback is largely positive, praising the wonderful, welcoming, and professional staff, immaculate premises, and exceptional fine dining experience. Many highlight the charming atmosphere and fantastic location, especially during the Christmas market season. Some minor criticisms include occasional lukewarm welcomes, disputes over additional charges, and issues with baby crib mattresses, but these are generally overshadowed by the overall high quality of service and experience.
Additional Details
Le Chambard gained international recognition as the last known location of celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain.
The Christmas market season is highly recommended for visiting the town. For culinary enthusiasts, October is ideal for experiencing the White Truffle season at the restaurant.
We stay all over the world and beg to differ, to stay here is not a 5 star experience.
Perhaps we spoke the wrong language, or didn’t portray the right image? The welcome was luke warm, we had to dispute additional charges on the bill, the room was small and uncomfortable. And the funky, cheap decor of the common rooms were off putting.
A charming and beautiful place with a wonderful, welcoming staff.
The room was comfortable and had everything we needed, and the hotel’s location is fantastic - surrounded by great restaurants, patisseries, and bakeries.
Visiting the town during the Christmas market season is highly recommended.
We also enjoyed the Tea Time experience held in the hotel’s Salon from Wednesday to Sunday, and it was an absolute delight. Highly recommended!
A Nearly Perfect Stay - One Disappointing Detail
My family of three visited Le Chambard last week, and in almost every respect, the experience was exceptional. The hotel was immaculate from top to bottom, and the service was outstanding. Every staff member—without exception—greeted us warmly with genuine smiles and hospitality. Despite being housed in a historic building, the interior felt pristine and modern, with everything looking beautifully maintained and new.
The staff were impeccably dressed and spoke excellent English, adding to the professional atmosphere. We stayed in the third-floor suite, which was remarkably spacious and impeccably presented upon arrival.
Why Four Stars Instead of Five:
My only significant concern was the baby crib mattress. When we inspected it, we discovered the "padding" consisted of two old, makeshift pillows that appeared worn and unclean. This was simply unacceptable for our infant. We immediately contacted reception, and to their credit, they responded quickly and graciously replaced it. However, the replacement was still just two pillows—albeit slightly newer ones.
For a hotel of this caliber and price point, I expected a proper crib mattress. In fact, I believe our baby deserves at least the same level of comfort we enjoyed in our own bed. Understanding they wouldn't be installing a proper mattress, we opted to have our baby sleep with us instead.
This issue stood in such stark contrast to the otherwise flawless experience that it was particularly disappointing. Everything else about Le Chambard was truly remarkable—I genuinely don't understand how this one detail could be overlooked when such care is evident everywhere else.
Would I recommend Le Chambard? Absolutely—just bring your own travel crib if you're traveling with an infant.
Came all the way here for the Michelin star food of Le Chambard, and it's totally worth it.
First of all, the little town Kaysersberg itself is a beauty, your journey starts on your way here.
Didn't get to stay in the hotel, but the restaurant is definitely a must of you're a fan of fine+dining.
The "Green Style" eel will firstly give you a rich while refreshing flavor of the fish. And if you're here during October the White Truffle season, definitely have to ask for it to add into your crayfish, OMG, so sophisticated the taste.
The Arctic Char "cooked in the beeswax", is surely phenomenal both the way they poured the 75 degree beeswax onto the raw char, also the taste of slow-cooking char, tender and flavorful, you'll love it like I do.
The local game was perfectly roasted, medium rare, plus the plum and berry desert, I will come again for sure.
