This was place so cool! We stumbled across it after searching for a bar to go to after we had dinner at Capri. This was in walking distance and below an apartment building. You enter in a door and actually go town a couple flights of stars, so it a basically in the basement lol. We were warmly welcomed when we came to the host stand which made us feel better we did in fact find the right place!
It was unexpectedly super cool on the inside! Classic tiki bar vibes, disco ball and sushi restaurant all in one! They were actually doing a Jell-O shot contest when we came so I got to try a few Jell-O shots and voted on the best one! They were very unique! Their drinks were delicious, I had a classic tiki one which was their signature cocktail The Shore Leave! Great vibes in this place and everyone was super friendly! Their sushi looked super good too!
Reserved a table for two on a Saturday night and the place was relatively busy along with a private event going on. The restaurant is located a few floors underground but has awesome decor and you don’t feel like you’re in the basement. Our table for 2 was intimate which was great for us, but maybe not so much if you’re on a first date. The server immediately came over with waters which I greatly appreciated on a hot day, and the staff were generally very friendly and accommodating. It’s nice they have an extensive menu but it’s confusing for ordering- next time I wouldn’t order wings and sushi for the same meal. Overall the fish was great but the rolls were a bit too exciting for me, and next time I would stick to basic rolls or nigiri/sashimi. The non-sushi options weren’t as good as I would’ve hoped, but the drinks were interesting and generally delicious. I am definitely interested in trying the Omakase from the attached sushi bar, although if I came back to shore leave I would stick to drinks and small bites.

Shore leave surpassed my expectations! Fun atmosphere, good service and many unique menu items. Sushi was so good! They’ve got things you won’t see elsewhere, and they didn’t offer some items you might look for, like California rolls. We ordered spicy tuna roll, tempura shrimp roll, wagyu skewers and the Dan Dan noodles. More than enough for two, and many menu items I’d like to try.

I’ve been to this restaurant a couple of times since living in Boston. I once went for their “scare leave” pop up for Halloween and my boyfriend, best friend, and I just went to their sippin Santa pop up. We had such a great time! The theming is always great. I love the attention to detail. We are vegetarians and they had great tasty options for that. The drinks were impeccable in cup mugs that you have the options to buy at the end. Also! We watched a live surf rock band when we came for Halloween and then karaoke this time around. It looks like they are always hosting events.
I recommend making a reservation before you go, it’s usually crowded.

I actually don't remember much because we came here and just took drinks and shots to the face really quickly. But I remember how this place made me feel, and it was great, lmao. Really cute, spooky atmosphere. I'm pretty sure we did karaoke too but it was a blurry night. 10/10 would come back, really fun!
