Additional Details
The building's history as a segregated bus depot adds a layer of historical significance to the dining experience. It has been featured on the Netflix series 'The Captain's Table'.
The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for dinner from 5 PM to 10 PM. On Sundays, it offers brunch from 11 AM to 3 PM and dinner from 5 PM to 9 PM. Reservations are highly recommended due to its popularity.
Incredible atmosphere and ambiance at this restaurant, it’s a renovated greyhound bunch station, hence the name. Overall left a little disappointed with the food and service given the price.
We started off with the smoked olives which were incredible, as well as the pickled shrimp, yellowtail carpaccio, and tomato and sourdough. The smoked olives were probably the best thing on the starters. The pickled shrimp was interesting but a little overcooked. Tomato dish didn’t have enough bread. Raw oysters were pretty good but didn’t come with any accoutrements other than a mignonette.
We split the ribeye which came out to a staggering 228 dollars, it was cooked medium rare but came out closer to blue.
We ordered sparkling water for the table and it wasn’t super sparkly and room temp.
Overall the service was quite poor as well; they messed up our drink order and served me an alcoholic drink although I am on an alcohol cleanse. Apps weren’t served with small plates. Just these little things continued to accumulate, and while acceptable at restaurants that are a little more affordable, are harder to excuse at a place charging 150 pp.
Really wanted to like this place but cannot recommend.
We were visiting Savannah and somebody recommended this restaurant which is an old greyhound bus depot that used to be segregated and they turned it into a nice restaurant that was featured on a Netflix series called the captain’s table. It was our anniversary. My husband had the fish curry dish and I had the roasted chicken dinner that came with a mole sauce that I think was a zucchini mole or something like that but everything was delicious. We had the cornbread appetizer before our meal and we had the lemon olive oil cake afterwards and everything was great! We sat at the main bar and our bartender and server was Shelby and she was awesome!

Dining at The Grey is definitely an experience.
First, the atmosphere is beautiful. The restaurant is set in a restored former bus terminal, and they’ve kept some of those original touches while elevating everything to feel upscale and intentional. The decor alone is worth appreciating, and I absolutely loved the downstairs private room—if I lived in Savannah, I’d be booking that space in a heartbeat.
The menu is thoughtful and creative, exactly what you’d expect from a chef known for reimagining Southern cuisine. It’s important to go in knowing this is elevated, traditional Southern food with a twist. Overall, the food was good and flavorful. The cornbread had a surprising kick. Personally, I would’ve loved some honey to balance it out. The fried squash was delicious, though I think it would’ve been even better paired with some kind of dipping sauce. The drinks were also very well done.
That said, the pacing of the meal was a major downside. It took way too long for the food to come out...long enough that even my partner, who rarely comments on timing, noticed. While drinks arrived quickly, the overall wait for food really dragged down the experience.
Service was just okay. Our server wasn’t particularly attentive, especially compared to how she interacted with other tables nearby. Another thing to be aware of: seating is tight. Tables are packed so closely together that it can feel like you’re sharing your dinner with strangers, which takes away from the intimacy of the experience.
On a positive note, I loved the thoughtful touch at the end of the meal...a "thrill". It added a fun, memorable element. And since it was my birthday, I was treated to a whipped soufflé-style dessert, which was a really nice surprise. Pricing felt fair for the quality and overall experience.
All in all, The Grey truly shines in creativity, ambiance, and flavor, with just a bit of room to refine the pacing and maybe a little more space between tables.

I had made reservations a week in advance and was still able to secure a 9:30 PM slot. Upon my arrival, I quickly understood why this dining experience was so highly sought after. The atmosphere was truly euphoric and nostalgic. And then, the food! It presented, by far, the most unique combination of flavors I have ever encountered.
To put it simply, it was certainly worth the wait.

We loved our dinner date at this place. Once we got here there were no tables for us except seating at the bar. Nick made the whole experience of seating at the beautiful bar one of a kind. He was so pleasant and knowledgeable, always attentive to our needs and even gave us a free treat - an appetiser that we both enjoyed.
The oysters were local and fresh. The grilled whole fish was amazingly cooked and served with olive oil. We had the smashed roast potatoes that were the most delicious!!
Hailey was also serving beside Nick and they were both the friendliest ever!! We can’t thank both enough for making our dinner date this memorable.
