The plain slice was everything a New York slice should be—simple, crispy, cheesy, and absolutely perfect.
Then my sons convinced me to step outside my comfort zone and order a mushroom and sausage slice. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical. One bite later, I was wondering where this combo has been my entire life. Outstanding.

Tried Joe’s Pizza in the West Village for the second time and honestly, really solid New York style pizza.
It’s that classic NYC slice: thin crust, slightly crispy on the bottom, soft enough to fold, simple tomato sauce and melted cheese. Nothing fancy, just done right. There are definitely better pizzas out there if you start comparing top spots, but for around $30 for a large pie, it’s a very good deal, especially in Manhattan.
What makes this location stand out for me is the vibe. Way better than Times Square, less touristy, more chill, you can actually enjoy your food without chaos around you. You grab a slice basically instantly, and even if you order a whole pizza, it comes out in under 8 minutes, which is impressive.

This gets a special, warm review from me. I grew up watching Spiderman 2 very frequently as a kid, so getting the oppourtunity to try the pizza that Peter would deliver was something that I never thought would happen.
The service was fast, understandable, and it's iconic that the place only accepts cash. The prices for the pizza are a bit high, but the size of the pizza is ENORMOUS, so you get a lot of value. Having tables set up outside is fun for being able to eat the pizza right after buying it, but you can also just stroll around the many parks nearby.
The pizza itself is very flavorful, and mine was packed with pepperoni. The 'za had that iconic NYC flop, and it took me a while to actually finish the pizza. There may be better pizza out there, but this one will hold a special spot in my heart. If you are in NYC, you have to try this spot.
