Pecan Lodge is a well-known family-owned Texas barbecue institution located in the vibrant Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas, TX. Widely celebrated for its 18-hour slow-smoked brisket, giant beef ribs, and scratch-made Southern sides.
The barbecue was top tier and the sides were just as great. This place believe in slow cooking their meats to achieve tender full smoked flavor. On the day I went it was busy but not overly crowded and everything was clean and organized. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and the staff was friendly. I definitely will be back soon.

Probably the best BBQ I’ve had! To me it ranks just a tad higher than Terry Blacks. I really like how you can get meat trays instead of just having to buy in half lb, etc. Staff is friendly but not over the top. The two times we ate there the atmosphere was a little blah. Overall, amazing food!!
Food was flavored but a little too much cold and dry to be honest. Service at the bar was so difficult, we had to ask for someone else to bring us the second beer. Mac&Cheese not recommended. Burnt ends were extremely burnt, mainly inedibles. Pork ribs weren’t that good. They didn’t have any beef ribs neither. Pulled pork was dry and cold. Beef brisket was the only one approved (but fatty, cold and dry). A friend of mine also tried turkey and potato salad and it was ok. Sausage wasn’t that good.
Maybe I just went during a bad day, dunno. But with this experience I could never recommend this place compared to some other experiences.
Price was pretty fair though.
Clean. Tasty.
Amazing okra! Best pork ribs of my life.
Good music. Quick service. Great bbq sauce even though it wasn’t needed!
Staff was friendly and kept busy.
From the moment you approach the building, the wonderful aroma of Texas barbecue lures you in. Pecan Lodge perfectly captures that booming, rustic BBQ atmosphere.
I ordered the Beef Rib with sides of potato salad and mac & cheese. The Beef Rib was, in a word, AMAZING. The tenderness of the meat was unmistakable, falling right off the bone with a unique, incredible flavor profile. It’s clearly a staple item here and worth every penny.
As for the sides, the Potato Salad (7/10) and Macaroni & Cheese (7.5/10) were solid accompaniments that rounded out the meal well. Definitely a Dallas highlight!
