Had an amazing dining experience! It was a wonderful culinary journey tasting these beautiful creations that looked visually stunning and tickled your taste buds. Service was top notch. I would highly recommend trying their ten course menu which in reality is servings of more than 18 dishes. Come with an appetite as you will be well taken care of! Shout out to Richard for his friendly attentive service. We enjoyed celebrating our tenth anniversary here today! The stand out dish was the mango based dessert..best I have had in a long time!
Having just completed my sixth visit to Opheem this weekend, I feel more confident than ever in saying that this is not only the finest restaurant in the UK, but quite possibly the greatest restaurant in the world.
I’ve been fortunate enough to dine at exceptional restaurants across the globe, but none come close to what Aktar Islam and his team have created in Birmingham. In fact, I regularly travel all the way from London purely to experience Opheem again, and every single time, it surpasses even my already high expectations.
While my very first visit three years ago will always hold a special place as my most memorable, this latest experience has firmly secured its place as my second-best visit yet, which is no small feat given the consistently extraordinary standard Opheem maintains.
What truly sets Opheem apart is not just its status as the only 2 Michelin-starred restaurant in Birmingham, but the innovation and thoughtfulness behind every element of the experience. On this visit, we had the pleasure of trying the alcohol-free pairing, and it completely transformed my understanding of what “pairing” can be. As a teetotal diner, this was a revelation. Each drink wasn’t just a companion to the food, it elevated it. Every pairing brought out new dimensions of flavour, enhancing an already exquisite tasting menu in a way I hadn’t thought possible. It’s something I will now include in every future visit without hesitation.
Beyond the food and drink, it’s the people who make Opheem unforgettable.
A special mention must go to Andrew, who has an extraordinary way of making every guest feel like the most important person in the room. His warmth is never forced, never rehearsed, just genuine, thoughtful hospitality from someone who clearly loves what he does and takes real pride in creating lasting memories for his guests.
If it isn’t already clear: Opheem is not just one of the best dining experiences you will ever have, it’s one of the best experiences, full stop.

Ophheem Food Experience Review
This was a birthday gift for my 56th birthday, and what an incredible experience it turned out to be. From the moment we arrived, everything was exceptional.

Fantastic visit to Opheem, my second time now. I have tried both the 10 course tasting menu, and the 2 course lunch a la carte menu - both have been exceptional. Every course is a flavour sensation and the service is elite.
It is a nice touch that you start in the bar area, order your drink and get to try some little amuse-bouche, these were the best things I have tasted and a great way to start your fine dining experience.
With the 2 course lunch menu, you also get a bread and butter course and then tiny sweet treats at the end to try. So actually, you leave pretty full, don't let the idea of a 2-course meal leaving you hungry, fool you. It's a great introduction to the 2 michelin starred restaurant.
This experience isn't cheap, but I would highly recommend it, especially for a special occasion. Incredible food meets exceptional service. I have no doubt I will be back.

Opheem – Modern Indian Elegance with Michelin-Level Precision
Opheem delivers the kind of dining experience where every detail — from the textures on the plate to the lighting in the room — feels deeply intentional. A modern, plush dining room sets the tone: dark, stylish, and quietly confident, the kind of space where you know the meal will be thoughtful long before the first course arrives.
Across the menu, the kitchen leans into Indian flavours without ever being confined by traditional forms. There’s a clear technical backbone to every element — sauces placed with micro-precision, textures contrasting beautifully, and plating that borders on fine art.
Drinks
The beverage programme stands shoulder-to-shoulder with the food. Cocktails are crafted with the same contemporary Indian lens, striking a balance between familiarity and inventive flair. The wine pairing (if chosen) is thoughtful, often surprising, and consistently elevates the dishes rather than overshadowing them.
Service & Ambience
Service is Michelin-standard: attentive without hovering, informed without being rehearsed, and timed to the rhythm of the meal rather than a script. The plush surrounds, warm lighting, and calm pacing create an atmosphere where the evening feels indulgent but not formal to the point of stiffness.
Verdict
Opheem absolutely earns its Michelin recognition. It stands as a benchmark for modern Indian cuisine — not merely “elevating” it, but reimagining it with clarity, creativity, and a strong sense of identity.
Perfect for: special occasions, food-driven trips, gastronomic explorers, or anyone who loves seeing classic flavours reinterpreted with technical brilliance.
