As a vegetarian with lactose intolerance, I would not recommend Buatta. Vegan diners are likely to find the options even more limited.
We provided dietary requirements when booking, but they appeared not to have been communicated to staff. We were served sfincione containing anchovies and were then told, somewhat dismissively, that there was only one suitable main course for me.
The fava bean soup was good, but the omelette was disappointing.
We were also served the wrong main course. When we pointed out the mistake, the response felt annoyed rather than apologetic.
Given the restaurant’s Michelin Bib Gourmand recognition, I expected better attention to detail. Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations.
I hope the team can improve communication around dietary requirements, as this would have made a significant difference to our visit. I wish them all the best for the future.
We were recommended this restaurant, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The service was warm, friendly, and made us feel so welcome.
Everything we ordered was delicious—the fish with couscous, beef tartare, pasta with sardines and fennel, pasta with ragù, and the cannoli for dessert. We were impressed with every dish.
If you’re looking for great hospitality and an amazing meal, I highly recommend this place!

It is a small restaurant nestled in the heart of Palermo's historical center. I visited during the off-season, and despite many surrounding establishments being closed, Bautta was surprisingly busy. Upon entering, I noticed signs indicating that the restaurant had been featured in the Michelin Guide from at least 2019 to 2021, and possibly beyond.
Interior: The interior is simple and unremarkable, earning a 3 out of 5 stars. It’s a basic setting without any special features.
Service: The service was very good, receiving a solid 4 out of 5 stars. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and explained the dishes well, even in English.
Cuisine: The food deserves a 5 out of 5. I highly recommend the traditional Sicilian appetizer platter for two, perfect for tourists wanting to try local specialties. I ordered sardines for my main course, and some of the friends had a meat dish with truffle. The sardines were delicious, and the meat dish was extraordinary, featuring an unusually large amount of truffle.
Average Check: With a bottle of wine, the bill came to approximately 48 euros per person.
I recommend the place, especially during the off-season.

We had the tasting menu, and I feel somewhat conflicted about our experience here.
On the one hand, you absolutely get a ton of value for your money here. My first course with a big variety of raw fish and seafood as well as the variety of deseserts were an absolute delight, and I also very much appreciate that they provide a vegetarian version of their tasting menu.
On the other hand we felt a bit lost during the course of our lunch. After two rounds of multiple dishes each, we were already completely stuffed, and hadn't even finished everything. We figured, well probably just the desert to go, but then the server told us we are just getting started. Thus, we unfortunately were unable to really enjoy the main pasta dish. Had we known how much was still coming, we probably would have eaten less of the previous dishes.
Now you might blame that on our small stomachs, but I have eaten many tasting menus in my life, and this is not a common issue. You might also question how you can complain about too much food, but properly designed portion sizes are in my opinion part of a good experience.
It wasn't an issue to us, but I should also mention that their vegetarian tasting menu had multiple dishes containing cheese usually made with rennet (e.g. caciocavallo), which is in fact not vegetarian.

A really lovely dinner experience! The staff were friendly and attentive — they helped us pick a great red wine and surprised us with a nice little appetizer to kick things off.
We highly recommend the Sicilian appetizer selection for two, a lovely taste trip through local flavors. For mains, the pasta with ragù was excellent — baked in the oven with a great technique that gave it real depth. My husband’s grilled cuttlefish was beautifully fresh and simple, just the way it should be.
Overall a wonderful evening with good food and warm service. Would definitely recommend!
