Fabulous! The food was delicious!! Pan con tomat is a must and the tomato and crab really so surprising and tasty!! Sangria 10/10. Their team is super nice and fun!
Had a really lovely time here. Had the baby squid, patatas bravas, mushrooms (pictured), broccolini, and basque cake. Everything was well prepared, flavorful, and had some great texture contrasts. My server Kimi was also wonderful, and she recommended most of my meal.

Valentina in Encinitas is one of those places that quietly stands out—not because it’s flashy, but because it gets so many details right. Tucked along Coast Highway in Leucadia, it has a cozy, intimate vibe that feels equal parts neighborhood wine bar and elevated coastal bistro. The ambiance leans romantic without trying too hard, with soft lighting and a relaxed, unhurried pace that makes it easy to settle in for the evening.
The menu draws strong inspiration from Mediterranean and Spanish cuisine, with a focus on seasonal, shareable plates. Dishes like patatas bravas, seafood options, and paella tend to be highlights, and there’s a clear attention to detail in both flavor and presentation. The food strikes a nice balance—refined enough to feel special, but still approachable. It’s the kind of place where you can order a few small plates, a bottle of wine, and just enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.
Speaking of wine, the selection is thoughtfully curated and plays a big role in the overall experience. The staff is typically friendly and knowledgeable, adding to the welcoming, almost “locals-only” feel that regulars seem to love. Service is generally warm and attentive, though like many popular small spots, it can get a bit busy during peak hours.
Pricing sits in the moderate-to-upscale range, which feels fair given the quality and atmosphere, though some diners note that certain dishes can be hit or miss depending on expectations. Still, the overall consensus is that Valentina delivers a memorable dining experience—especially for date nights or relaxed evenings with friends.
All in all, Valentina is a great example of a neighborhood gem: stylish but not pretentious, creative yet comforting, and consistently enjoyable if you’re in the mood for Mediterranean-inspired small plates and good wine in a cozy setting.
